Lucid Air Beta Prototypes
The Lucid Air has been designed and engineered in the Bay Area, and it shows in Lucid’s vision for the vehicle.
The 1,000 horsepower, all-electric powertrain and performance-tuned suspension make the Air a great driver’s car. An innovative cabin design gives the Air luxury-sedan space in a midsize footprint that is perfect for city driving.
The breakthrough UX keeps occupants informed and engaged throughout the drive. By combining these elements, the Lucid Air provides the driving dynamics, excitement, and efficiency of a smaller car without giving away any of the comforts and luxury of a long-wheelbase sedan.
On April 23, a ship called One Humber left Japan with 14 containers of robotic and precision tooling equipment destined for the body shop at Lucid’s new Arizona factory — the first purpose-built all-EV manufacturing facility in North America. We watched a satellite tracker in eager anticipation as the ship crossed the Pacific Ocean and arrived a week later at the Port of Los Angeles.
It’s just the first of nine shipments totaling 85 containers of equipment we will receive in the coming months from our supplier Hokuto, which will enable us to manufacture the Lucid Air’s all-aluminum advanced body structure. And it’s all coming exactly on schedule without any delay — even as we maintain the safest possible environment for everyone working on the project at the factory site.
We have built over 40 Lucid Air beta prototypes — and are in the process of building dozens more — each with a designated purpose in our comprehensive testing program.
