Anadarko Discovers Natural Gas Offshore Mozambique
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has discovered natural gas at its Barquentine exploration well in Offshore Area 1 of Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin.
Anadarko encountered over 416 net feet of natural gas pay in multiple high-quality sands with more than 308 net feet of pay in two Oligocene sands that are age-equivalent to those earlier encountered in the Windjammer discovery.
Anadarko Worldwide Exploration senior vice-president Bob Daniels said that with the Windjammer and Barquentine discoveries, the company has identified a substantial natural gas resource and proved that two distinct trap styles exist in the Rovuma Basin region.
“Based on the high-quality resource and sands encountered to date in both the Barquentine and Windjammer exploration wells, we have begun designing an appraisal programme that will better delineate the areal extent of this large accumulation,” Daniels said
