Construction of the Myanmar-China oil & gas pipelines

hou Jiping calls on Myanmar President U Thein Sein in Sanya
On April 6 in Sanya, Hainan Province, CNPC President Zhou Jiping had an audience with President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Thein Sein, who is attending the Boao Forum for Asia 2013. The two sides had a friendly and in-depth conversation.
President U Thein Sein was delighted to meet with Mr. Zhou. He spoke highly of CNPC’s efforts in building friendly relationship with Myanmar people which have won the supports from local communities and thus greatly facilitated the construction of the Myanmar-China oil & gas pipelines. Now more than 90% of the pipeline project has been completed. Together with the promising offshore exploration, CNPC will surely make new contributes to Myanmar’s socio-economic development. President U Thein Sein also said that the Myanmar Government is willing to support oil and gas cooperation between Myanmar and China, and help address relevant problems during the cooperation.
Mr. Zhou expressed his gratitude to the President and the Myanmar Government for their great supports to Myanmar-China oil and gas cooperation and introduced the progress of the pipeline project. Zhou said, CNPC will as always care for people’s livelihood and environmental protection, be dedicated to promoting local employment and fulfilling its commitment to corporate social responsibility in Myanmar.
PetroChina Vice President Bo Qiliang and CNPC Deputy Chief Economist Wang Lihua were present at the meeting.​
