Explosion Proof Forklifts for the Oil and Gas Industry

Nichiyu’s expertise in the manufacturing and design of electric forklifts has led to the development of the Nichiyu IECEx explosion-proof forklift. Purposely built for the oil and gas industry, these explosion-proof forklifts offer maximum safety and high efficiency in explosive atmospheres.
As one of the few companies who specialise in the development of forklifts that are safe to operate in a Zone 1 area, Nichiyu’s system in the manufacturing of explosion-proof forklifts has been approved by NOPSEMA, Australia’s first regulator for health and safety, well integrity and environmental management for offshore oil and gas operations. The forklifts also come with a full component certification by IECEX.
IECEX component certification
Designed specifically for use in Zone 1 areas with Gas Group IIB (and IIC if required), temperature T4, the Nichiyu IECEx explosion-proof forklift provides the highest level of certification that is available for the use of electric equipment in explosive areas.
IECEX component certification covers traction, hydraulics and EPS motor enclosures; main electrical and display enclosures; barrier glands; Zener barriers; traction battery cells; battery containers; battery connectors and flashing beacons and horns.
Additional safety measures provided are antistatic tyres, stainless-steel forks and antistatic material covering the driver’s seat and antistatic mats and paint.
An IECEx component certificate for each component is provided in the hazardous equipment dossier.
