Ghana: Economic Strategic Report – Q4 2016
Production of oil in Ghana will hit 190,000 barrels per day by the end of the year, Ecobank Research has projected.
Oil production prospects appear favourable: based on current fields already producing and field development plans, Ghana could be SSA’s fourth largest oil producer by 2020 with oil output above 240kb/d.
o With technical problems currently being addressed at the Jubilee oilfield, we expect oil production to resume to original levels in the near future and this, in addition to the recent coming on stream a new Tweneboa, Enyenra & Ntomme (TEN) oilfield should see production rise to around 150,000 b/d in H1 2017.
o This level is expect to rise by 2018 when the TEN oilfield is expected to peak at about 80,000 b/d.
Further support should come from Sanfoka gas production, which is expected to commence at end 2017/early 2018.
