Jordan, Iraq plan to build refinery in Aqaba
Jordan and Iraq started talks to build a refinery in the Red Sea city of Aqaba south of the Kingdom, an Iraqi official said on Sunday.
Adnan Al Janabi, chairman of Iraq’s energy parliamentary committee, said the two countries are in serious discussions to build the refinery.
The refinery, he said, will be used to process oil that will reach from Iraq’s Basra to Jordan’s Aqaba.
During a forum on Iraq’s energy sector held in Amman, the Iraqi lawmaker said a project to build an oil pipeline from Basra to Jordan is going on as scheduled and several international companies showed interest in the project.
