Rovuma basin of Mozambique

Anadarko Petroleum and its consortium partners have discovered a major natural gas presence in the Rovuma basin of Mozambique.

A net total of 550ft of natural gas was discovered at the Lagosta exploration well, located at Offshore Area 1, reports Reuters.

The consortium plans to drill to a total depth of 15,900ft, from the current depth of 13,850ft in water depths of 5,080ft, to evaluate a deeper zone within the well.

Anadarko leads the consortium with a 36.5% working interest and is the operator of Offshore Area 1.

Partners of the consortium include Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 (20%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique (10%), Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 (10%) and Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore (8.5%).
