CGGVeritas Opens Maersk Oil Dedicated Center in Copenhagen

CGGVeritas has been awarded a three-year contract by Maersk Oil to perform high-end seismic data processing & imaging services at a dedicated center which was inaugurated on 29th September 2010 in the Maersk Copenhagen office in Denmark.

The Dedicated Processing Center (DPC) gives Maersk Oil experts the flexibility to work in a close collaborative environment with an onsite team of highly experienced CGGVeritas geophysicists specializing in time, depth, 4D and OBC processing and imaging. To help solve targeted challenges for their various E&P assets, Maersk Oil will have access to the latest CGGVeritas seismic technologies and be able to provide input to R&D projects.

Troels Albrechtsen, Senior VP Corporate Technology & Projects, Maersk Oil, said: “Establishing the DPC within Maersk Oil is a key element of our continuous commitment to provide our geoscientists and engineers with first-class seismic data necessary for optimum exploration and development decisions. The E&P business is a competitive arena, and staying at the forefront of technology developments is a sine qua none condition for success. Thanks to the expertise of CGGVeritas staff and the quality of their seismic processing package and hardware, this fit-for-purpose DPC provides us with the agility to identify, test and implement the seismic technologies needed to support and sustain our growth ambitions. With our initial commitment to a three-year contract, we shall test our ability to go from a client-service provider relationship to a real technology partnership.”

Colin Murdoch, Executive Vice President, Processing, Imaging & Reservoir, CGGVeritas, said: “Dedicated Processing Centers, of which we now have 14, are a core strategy for CGGVeritas, enabling us to offer our clients a tailored service within their environment that meets their specific requirements with a high level of efficiency and quality. The launch of this new DPC builds on our already excellent relationship with Maersk Oil with whom we have worked on many successful projects recently in Angola, Denmark, Norway, Qatar and the UK. It brings our relationship to a new level, driven by a shared commitment to innovation that will benefit both our companies.”
