Eni on behalf of Area 4 partners hands over training infrastructures in Mozambique

Eni Rovuma Basin, on behalf of the Area 4 partners, together with Cabo Delgado’s provincial Government Authorities has inaugurated a primary school, a canteen, and a multi-purpose sports field in the Paquitequete neighbourhood. This initiative is part of the fulfilment of sustainability plans of the Coral South project approved by the Government of Mozambique.


In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDGs), Eni Rovuma Basin is committed to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education as well as contribute for the expansion of learning opportunities. The construction of Kumilamba Primary School, a multi-purpose sports field and a school canteen at Kuparata Primary School will benefit more than 5000 students from Paquitequete and surrounding communities.

The project also includes the development of human capital which covers the training of 57 teachers and 16 educators, the provision of scholarships for high school students, professional training and alphabetization program targeting 400 adults, the promotion of extra-curricular activities such as sports, poetry and theatre, and the provision of lunch packs in order to motivate students to continue with their studies and reduce the dropout rates.

The Coral South project will be the first to put into production considerable resources of natural gas in Mozambique, starting in the second half of 2022. It is operated by Eni Rovuma Basin on behalf of the Area 4 partners, namely Eni, ExxonMobil, CNPC, Galp, Kogas and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos.
