Global Gas Industry Expands its Horizons
Conference in Istanbul to track latest advancements in the gas industry
ExxonMobil, world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company and Turkey’s state owned Turkiye Petrolleri AO (TPAO) are in talks to explore shale gas reserves in Turkey. The US Government had provided an analysis which estimated about 15 trillion cubic feet of recoverable shale gas. The joint venture with ExxonMobil has great significance as it will reduce the energy costs for Turkey. Shell recently won the tender for developing Abu Dhabi’s Bab sour gasfield. According to an article published in The National, Peter Voser, The Chief Executive of Shell said, “We have more than 60 years’ of experience of safe and successful sour gasfield development globally and we will apply this experience, along with our leading research and development, and technology expertise to the development of the Bab resource”.
Huge developments in the gas industry has given rise to a lot of companies working together for effective utilization of the available resources. Joint ventures of various companies have helped them overcome hurdles like exploration, gas field developments and effective transportation. Devising new solutions to overcome cross border challenges like production and technical applications for gas supply has become the need of the hour. In an effort to bring global gas industry experts together, Fleming Gulf Conferences will be organizing Global Gas Opportunities Summit from 1-3 October 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey. With speakers from organizations like Gazprombank, Emirates Gas LLC, Cedigaz, Continental Gas Storage BV and Petronas, the summit will cover topics like political risk analysis in gas industry development, designing efficient gas networks, technological advancements for use of CNG as a fuel and managing pipeline integrity among others.
The three day summit will be hosting four panel discussions, three case studies and two workshops on the final day. Panel discussions will be held on gas pricing, contracting and subsidization, boosting gas usage; LNG and CNG as a fuel, infrastructure investment; analysis and opportunities & developments in the gas industry worldwide. One of the key highlights of the summit would be a presentation on municipal waste flare gas programme for NGVs in Dubai by Fazal Ali Khan. With an enormous experience in CNG developments in the region, Fazal Ali Khan is currently working as the CNG Development Manager at Emirates Gas LLC. He has been designated as Vice President of ANGVA (Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Association) and Chairman of ANGVA Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP).
In 2012, the market size of global industrial gas industry increased by 4.6% approximated at USD 69.8 billion. The gas industry is set to only grow in the coming years. The summit will serve as an excellent opportunity to learn about the developments in the gas industry. Turkey with its natural gas resources holds a huge potential to supply gas to the world and a perfect venue for the summit. Turkey’s Energy Minister recently told Reuters in an interview that Turkey will be looking to sign contracts with U.S. and Russian companies for joint operations of exploration of oil and gas in northern Iraq. These operations if realized will influence the future energy prospects and open new avenues in economy and welfare of other countries.
