Petrobras announces oil and natural gas production in May

Pre-salt fields achieved new daily record
Petrobras announces that achieved on last May 18, a new pre-salt production record with 322,100 barrels of oil per day (bpd). This volume surpassed the previous record by 11 thousand bpd, when production had reached 311,500 bpd on April 17.
Besides the good numbers of the pre-salt, the other good news was the record occurred in May of Petrobras’ production at Espírito Santo, which reached the monthly output of 322,7 thousand bpd, which surpasses the previous record set in December 2011.
The production of oil (oil plus natural gas liquids – NGL) of all Petrobras fields in Brazil, in May, averaged 1,892 thousand bpd, volume 1.7% lower than April’s output (1,924 thousand barrels). Including the share operated by Petrobras for partner companies, exclusive oil output in Brazil was 1,942 thousand bpd.
This drop was partly offset by the rising contribution of pre-salt areas, which have been adding to consolidated output results.
In May, total output (oil and natural gas) from domestic fields was 2,267 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), volume 2.1% lower than the previous month. Including the share operated by Petrobras for partner companies, total output was 2,359 thousand boe/d.
Added to the company’s output abroad, Petrobras’ total oil and natural gas output in May averaged 2,500 thousand boe/d, 2% lower than the total output in April.
Scheduled stoppages
The drop in output was due to planned maintenance stoppages at platforms P-25 and P-31, installed in Albacora field, Campos Basin, and at FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis, which operates in the Lula field pilot-project, in Santos Basin.
The planned stoppage of FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis occurred during stoppage of the Caraguatatuba Gas Treatment Unit – UTGCA – for plant adjustments to enable the processing of an increasing production of richer gas from the pre-salt. The FPSO carried
out activities to conform to NR-13, such as routine preventive inspection of boilers and pressure vessels of the process plant. Normal operation has been restored.
Natural Gas Production
Non-liquefied natural gas output from Petrobras’ fields in Brazil was 59,722 thousand cubic meters per day, which is 2,702 thousand cubic meters lower than April’s output. This was due to a Mexilhão field stoppage and concomitant stoppage at UTGCA in Caraguatatuba. Total gas output in Brazil, including the share operated by Petrobras for partner companies, was 66,349 thousand cubic meters per day, remaining within the same levels of April.
International Production
In May, total oil and natural gas output abroad was 233,345 boe/d, corresponding to a 1.3% decrease when compared to April. Of this total, 144,303 barrels of oil per day were produced, with a 1.7% decrease in comparison to the previous month. International natural gas output was 15,128 thousand cubic meters/day, 0.6% lower than the output in April.
The drop in international production was mainly due to the maintenance stoppage of Nakika platform, in Coulomb Field, USA.
Information to the Brazilian National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP)
In May 2013, the total output reported to ANP was 9,040,864.09 m³ of oil and 2,169,168.76 thousand m³ of gas. This output corresponds to the total output of the concessions where Petrobras is the operator. It does not include Shale, NGL volumes and partners’ output where Petrobras is not the operator.
