Petrobras Production in May 2012
Petrobras announces that its average oil and natural gas output in May, in Brazil and overseas, was 2,601,223 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), which represents an increase of 1.9% from April. Fields located in Brazil produced, on average, 2,350,476 boed, indicating a rise of 2% in comparison to the previous month’s output. Output overseas was 250,747 boed, which corresponds to an increase of 1.7% from April.
Of the total produced in Brazil, 1,989,210 barrels/day were exclusively of oil, which is 1.4% higher than the output of April 2012. The rise is primarily due to the resumption of operation of platforms that were under maintenance in April and the start-up of one more production well connected to FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis, in Lula Field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.
In May, natural gas output reached 57,437,000 cubic meters, which is 4.9% higher than the 54,748,000 cubic meters/day produced in April. Average oil output overseas in May reached 149,740 barrels/day and remained practically stable. Natural gas output reached 17,161,000 cubic meters/day, which is an increase of 4.4% from April. The rise in natural gas output was due to higher demand for gas from Bolivia.
