The Qatar government is actively sourcing strategies & solutions to develop the country’s infrastructure to sustain development. Approximately $130bn is earmarked for investment over the next 5 – 6 years, of which $65bn alone, will be devoted to energy-related projects. With large amounts of revenue at stake, process industries are focusing more on turnaround management as they strive to lengthen the interval between turnarounds. A strategy to execute optimized shutdown and turnaround by changing plant operating conditions and inspection techniques needs to be outlined. . There is no accepted standard amongst turnaround professionals in Qatar industries with continuous process plants for turnaround management. Some standardization of norms will help mitigate most of the risks associated with STO’s. This forum is tailor-made from 3 years of industry feedback and suggestions to open the floor to discussions in planning and logistics, shutdown executions, plant start up and shutdown evaluation. Senior Planning and Development Specialist, Mohammed Ghazy from Dubai Municipality will deliver the keynote speech on ‘Standardize STO Management across continuous process plants in Middle East’. Mahmoud Khalifa from ADMA-OPCO will lead one of the workshop on critical maintenance-planning for equipment.
