RWE Dea donates ambulance and woollen blankets in Egypt
RWE Dea hands over new ambulance to health organisation in the Egyptian Nile Delta
In addition, the German oil and gas company distributed a total of 1,000 woollen blankets amongst the poor and needy hit by a sudden cold spell
In order to improve medical emergency services in the Kafr El Sheik governorate, RWE Dea has provided the local health organisation in El Fairuz with a new, state-of-the-art ambulance.
“With our oil and gas production activities, we have firmly established ourselves as an integral part of the Egyptian society since 1974,” said Maximilian Fellner, General Manager of RWE Dea Egypt, when he formally handed over the ambulance. “And it is therefore a logical consequence for us to assume social responsibility in this country and to support social infrastructure projects in the healthcare and education sector, in addition to investments in our operations,” added Fellner.
Among the about 200 guests attending the official presentation of the ambulance were the deputy governor of the Kafr El Sheik governorate as well as high ranking representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Ambulance Organization (EAO).
As a spontaneous reaction to the sudden cold spell in the Egyptian Nile Delta with unusually low temperatures in the region, RWE Dea also distributed a total of 1,000 woollen blankets to people in need in the Kafr El Sheik and Dakahlia governorates in January.
For many years now, RWE Dea has supported selected projects in Egypt to help modernise and renovate school buildings, promote adult literacy projects and fund its own scholarship programme for prospective petroleum engineers at the universities of Cairo, Suez Canal and Al-Azhar.
RWE Dea Egypt and its predecessor organisation have been operating successfully in Egypt since 1974 and, as operator, can look back on three decades of oil production in the Gulf of Suez. In recent years the company made a number of major gas discoveries in Egypt and boosted its activities considerably with the acquisition of additional concessions. RWE Dea has a total of 12 onshore and offshore concessions in Egypt, across a concession area of about 10,000 square kilometres.
