(Oilandgaspress) 30/07/26, -Petrobras announced that average oil, NGL, and natural gas production reached a record 3.34 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), In the second quarter of 2026, this is 14.1% higher than the same quarter of the previous year and 3.4% higher than the first quarter of 2026, mainly due to greater operational efficiency, the ramp-up of the FPSOs Maria Quitéria in the Jubarte field, Alexandre de Gusmão in the Mero field, P-78 in the Búzios field, and the start of production from the FPSO P-79 in the Búzios field. These factors were partially offset by the natural decline of mature fields.
This quarter, 10 new producing wells came online, 4 in the Campos Basin and 6 in the Santos Basin.
The 2Q26 refinery utilization rate (FUT) reached a record high of 101.2%, surpassing the previous record of 101.1% achieved in 3Q14. Notably, this period saw a FUT level of 102.5% for two consecutive months, in April and May 2026, the highest monthly result for the current refining park.
In the current geopolitical context, the high utilization of the refining park has been fundamental to expanding the supply of refined products in the domestic market. Thus, the lowest quarterly volume of refined product imports was recorded in Q2 2026, at 67 million barrels per day (mbpd), while sales of domestically produced products increased.
Sales of refined products in the domestic market in Q2 2026 remained at a similar level to Q1 2026, as the growth in sales of diesel and LPG offset the decline observed in other products.
The growth in oil production contributed to the increase in exports, which reached a level close to 1 million barrels per day (bpd), while at the same time favoring the reduction of oil imports to 89 million barrels per day (mbpd) in Q2 2026, the lowest volume since the pandemic.
