2024 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID. 4 named Cars.com’s 2024 Best Cars for Car Seats

Volkswagen of America, Inc., announced that the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID. 4 have been named Cars.com’s 2024 Best Cars for Car Seats. All three vehicles earned A’s in their Car Seat Checks. This marks the third year in a row that Volkswagen SUVs have been given top honors—Tiguan was among last year’s accolades. Volkswagen also has the most cars on this year’s Best Cars for Car Seats list of any OEM—VW models comprise half of all vehicles to earn straight A’s.

“During Cars.com’s testing, we found the Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and ID.4 all excelled when it came to our car seat testing,” said Jennifer Geiger, Cars.com news editor and certified child passenger safety technician. “Growing families will surely appreciate each vehicle’s roominess and conveniently accessible Latch anchors, making car seat installation a breeze.”

The Cars.com Best Cars for Car Seats Report compiles 12 months (July to July) worth of comprehensive Car Seat Checks conducted by Cars.com’s team of experts. Each Car Seat Check is performed by a Cars.com certified child passenger safety technician who installs three types of car seats — infant, convertible and high-back booster — into each new vehicle and evaluates the vehicle’s Latch system, as well as how the vehicle accommodates the different car seats. Cars.com tests vehicles as they are made available by automakers.

Cars.com has evaluated more than 800 vehicles over the course of 14 years. For 2024, 52 vehicles were evaluated. For a vehicle to achieve an ‘A’ rating, the vehicle must have sufficient room for the child and car seat, but not impact legroom for the driver or front passenger. The vehicle’s car seat Latch system also must be conveniently accessible and easy to use.
