As of April 2025, electric vehicles will no longer be exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty, often known as road tax. The change had been announced in the Autumn Budget of 2022 by the chancellor of the day, Jeremy Hunt.

Cars should be taxed by weight and mileage rather than by emissions which could offer a more “universal approach,” a new study has claimed.

Jaguar has released its new logo as it looks to the future of manufacturing.
The British luxury vehicle maker will launch three new electric cars in 2026, having taken new cars off sale more than a year ago.
The new logo, written as JaGUar, has “seamlessly blended upper and lower case characters in visual harmony”, according to the company.
The manufacturer unveiled a new logo on Tuesday as part of its rebrand, which will act as a “fire break” as it moves towards becoming a fully electric luxury brand. Read More
Thyssenkrupp on Tuesday reported a massive annual loss for the second year running, as it battles challenges including a crisis in its historic steel division.
The conglomerate, whose products range from steel to submarines, booked a loss of 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion) for the 2023-24 financial year, after losing some two billion euros the previous year. £1,736 warning has been issued to customers of every energy firm including British Gas, EDF, Octopus, OVO and E.On.
The latest official expert predictions on the energy bills price cap from Ofgem suggests that hopes for a price cut have been misplaced and, in fact, gas and electricity prices will rise by at least one percent in January, to add to the 10 percent rise we have already had in October. With the Porsche | Head 106 Series, the partners have for the first time developed skis for free riders. Michael Mauer’s Style Porsche team was responsible for the design, successfully transferring the Porsche design DNA to the world of skiing. Aksel Lund Svindal, brand ambassador for Porsche and Head, contributed his expertise as a former world-class skier. The skis were developed in the Porsche Design Studio in Weissach, and at Head in Kennelbach, in the vicinity of Bregenz (Austria). Henning Habicht appointed as Head of Volkswagen Chattanooga Operations, the company’s assembly plant in Tennessee. Habicht will transition into this role in December and lead the plant’s continued transformation and local assembly of the Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and all-electric ID.4 vehicles. Habicht follows Chris Glover, who will retire in January 2025 after more than three decades with Volkswagen, most recently leading the Chattanooga production facility for the past three years.
“I’m honored to build upon the legacy Chris has created in Chattanooga, including the world-class production facility as well as the more than 5,500 team members who make it run each day,” said Habicht. “We’re committed to maximizing production of several of Volkswagen’s best-selling vehicles in the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4, as well as supporting the economic vitality of the incredible city of Chattanooga.”
