MPR Announces Leadership Transition

ALEXANDRIA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MPR Associates Inc. is pleased to announce that Dennis Klein has been named Principal Officer, succeeding Bob Coward who will assume another MPR senior strategic leadership role. Mr. Klein joins Principal Officers Thomas Lubnow and Jason Gwaltney to form MPR’s executive office.

Mr. Klein was most recently MPR’s Vice President for Advanced Nuclear Power where his leadership has been influential in the important contributions and impact MPR has made in the development and deployment of advanced nuclear technology, a mission and suite of services vital to addressing energy demand and climate change goals.

Mr. Klein joined MPR in 2014 after a successful career as a Naval Officer, including command of a Los Angeles Class submarine. His leadership at MPR has created outsized impacts for clients and within MPR. Notably, in addition to his work in advanced nuclear energy, he has been instrumental supporting MPR’s clients in the commercial operating nuclear fleet, Department of the Navy, and Department of Energy. Mr. Klein championed numerous initiatives that strengthened MPR, fostered a culture of continuous operational improvement, and firmed the foundation for MPR to make the industry-leading contributions and impact for which MPR is known.

“Dennis is a strong advocate for building and applying our individual and team leadership muscle and having a strong culture of accountability – two critical elements as we continue to grow and expand our areas of influence in the industries we serve,” Mr. Lubnow said. “The Principal Officers have relied on Dennis’ candor, insight, and counsel, and appreciate his commitment and contributions to the success of MPR and our employees. We are excited to add Dennis to the MPR Executive Office and have high expectations for his contributions and influence on our success across all our business areas.”

Mr. Klein earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Iowa State University and earned a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.

This transition comes as Bob Coward steps aside after 15 years as Principal Officer and moves into a new senior leadership role. MPR and industry will continue to benefit from his engagement and leadership with clients, the MPR team, and industry.

“Bob has led MPR through our most successful period in our 60-year history through his focus on technical excellence, delivering industry-leading impact, growing the team of industry-leading professionals, and sustaining MPR as a great place to have a career,” Mr. Lubnow said. “In his major contributions to the nuclear industry, and as a trusted leader, partner and friend to me and others, his influence has enabled us to grow our business and impact in all the industries we serve.”

“We look forward to Bob’s continuing dedication at MPR to ensure that nuclear technology meets its promise as a safe, reliable, sustainable, and an economic solution to meeting our growing demand for power,” Mr. Gwaltney said. “Bob’s leadership at MPR has been one based on the core of MPR’s culture and values and his impact at MPR and on industry can’t be overstated.”
