The Iraqi Oil Marketing Company, SOMO, announced on Tuesday that Iraq’s recent increase in oil production under OPEC is a calculated and fully considered move, affirming that the adjustment will not affect global oil prices.

“The increase in Iraq’s production, as approved by OPEC, is a fully considered decision based on careful assessment of global market conditions, including production levels, demand trends, and the overall supply-demand balance,” said Ali Nizar, SOMO’s General Manager, to the Iraqi News Agency – INA. He clarified that the production hike will be implemented only after ensuring the market’s capacity to absorb the additional supply. “The increase comes as part of voluntary reductions being eased—not from the original mandatory cuts—according to agreements between OPEC member states and their allies.”

Nizar emphasized that the adjustment “is aimed at benefiting the member countries by gradually regaining portions of their market share, including Iraq’s, within the global oil market. At the same time, oil prices remain on an upward trajectory, supported by robust demand, particularly during the third quarter of this year.” Read More Iraq’s OPEC Production increase

With the start of the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg, the popular exhibit, which celebrates its 130th birthday next year, is taking a break for the summer. The truck, which is considered a technical milestone in automotive history, will be refurbished at the Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn-Schule in Nürtingen over the next few weeks. The handcrafted vehicle will be restored to working order under the guidance of experienced instructors and as part of the additional qualification in classic and modern classic cars by specially trained automotive apprentices. The project thus combines automotive tradition, modern training, and intergenerational exchange within the craft in a unique way.

At the Philipp Matthäus Hahn School in Nürtingen, one of the leading schools for classic and modern classic cars in the Stuttgart region, authenticity is paramount. The experts want to ensure that the anniversary vehicle is not only preserved in a museum, but can also drive again on its own wheels. The return to Leinfelden-Echterdingen is scheduled for the end of August 2025, just in time for the planned appearance at the Spitzkraut Classics in the fall. There, this special piece of technological history will not only be on display, but can also be experienced in motion. Read More Reproduction of the first truck in history

Xpeng Motors held its ” THE NEXT All-New Xpeng P7 · China Debut” press conference in Beijing today, officially unveiling the new car and opening pre-orders. Three models were released: a 702km long-range version, an 820km ultra-long-range version, and a 750km high-performance version. From August 6, 2025, until the launch of the all-new Xpeng P7, pre-order customers can enjoy a 99 yuan deposit to offset a 3,000 yuan purchase price, which can be combined with launch benefits. A milestone in China’s new energy sedan market, the original Xpeng P7 shattered the aesthetic barrier for pure electric coupes with its groundbreaking, original design. Now, the all-new Xpeng P7, a stylish luxury coupé combining trendy design with intelligent capabilities, defies the homogeneity of pure electric vehicles with its groundbreaking original design and robust AI technology, ushering in the next generation of AI coupes. Actresses Zhong Chuxi and Michelle Chen, singer Zhu Zhengting, and world champion swimmer Ning Zetao gathered at the launch event to create a fashion feast of technology and aesthetics. Breaking free from the constraints of homogeneity, the all-new Xpeng P7 adheres to original design, creating a stylish luxury coupe that “shakes imagination.” The vehicle utilizes a minimalist curved structure, integrating functional modules such as lights, partitions, and sensors into the contours of the surface, achieving a harmonious balance of aesthetics and functionality. A width-to-height ratio of 1.40, a length-to-height ratio of 3.57, and a wheel-to-height ratio of 0.52 create a wider, lower, and more slender body proportion. Combined with a mid-mounted electric drive layout consistent with supercars, it creates a coupe-like stance that combines speed and stability. The vehicle underwent over 40 rounds and 1,000 simulation optimizations, as well as four rounds of wind tunnel testing, achieving a true drag coefficient as low as Cd 0.201, demonstrating extreme performance beneath its stance. Bentley returns to California for this year’s Monterey Car Week with an array of past, current and future exhibits – many being revealed for the first time across the Peninsula. Bentley’s design vision concept, EXP 15, will be presented to the public for the first time on the concept lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on 17 August. The five-metre-plus concept has an iconic upright grille, long ‘endless’ bonnet and rearward cabin reminiscent of the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman coupe, often known as the “Blue Train”, which also joins Bentley’s programme of activities in Monterey for the first time. This iconic Bentley will be spotted on the road throughout the event, and on select days will appear at the returning Home of Bentley – adjacent to the Pebble Beach Lodge. The Home will feature a new display of the latest models from Crewe, deep dives into the world of Bentley craftsmanship, and a dedicated space for customers to work with Bentley designers on their own co-creations.

At ‘The Quail, a Motorsport Gathering’, the latest fourth-generation Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur core and Azure models will be shown alongside the new Bentayga Speed – all making their US public show debut. The Continental GT Speed showcases a new ‘ombre’ paint technology, which blends two colours on the car front-to-back in a new personal commissioning option available through Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke and coachbuilding division. Mulliner will also be showcasing the new Batur Convertible, in another US public debut.

The latest fourth-generation models will not only be on display at ‘The Quail’ but cars will be available for test drive during the week for customers and guest to experience. The new Continental GT and Azure models mark the arrival of Bentley’s new High Performance Hybrid powertrain, which unites an advanced 4.0-litre V8 engine and powerful electric motor to develop a maximum power output of 680 PS and a maximum torque output of 930 Nm. With the arrival of the new models alongside the acclaimed Speed and Mulliner variants, Bentley customers can now choose the Continental GT, GT Convertible or Flying Spur that most closely reflects their aesthetic values and driving priorities.

In the city of Ziyang, Sichuan province, a logistics company has hired three “employees” who never take lunch breaks and could work around the clock without any complaints. They are autonomous delivery vans, each capable of carrying between 600 and 800 parcels. They navigate the winding roads between villages located 10 to 30 kilometers from the distribution center at a steady pace of 15-20 km/h.

They stop dutifully at red lights, dodge obstacles with algorithmic precision, and can be remotely monitored — even overridden — via smartphone or laptop. When one such vehicle arrived in Zhenshu village after its 90-minute journey, site manager Luo Diwen demonstrated the unloading process with a few taps on his phone. “Open the app, select the license plate, tap to unlock — it’s that simple,” he said, as the van autonomously prepared for its next stop after scanning a confirmation QR code.

The real payoff comes in the ledgers. According to Liu Gang, general manager of the local logistics company, the driverless fleet has slashed labor costs and reduced fuel consumption by nearly half.

These three driverless vehicles hail from Neolix, an autonomous vehicle company headquartered in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. Read More Autonomous driving for smarter logistics in China
