London, October 09, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) –––Gold prices dropped slightly after a record run yesterday, as Gold bullion hit the $4,000-per-ounce for the first time ever due to economic and geopolitical uncertainties ,weakening US dollar , U.S. government shutdown and hopes of further U.S. rate cuts this year.
The price of spot gold – the real-time market value of the precious metal for immediate delivery – rose to more than $4,036 an ounce on Wednesday afternoon in Asia.
Gold futures – which serve as a gauge of market sentiment – reached the same level on 7 October. Futures are agreements to buy or sell the asset at a pre-determined date in the future.
U.S. gold futures for December delivery fell 0.7% to $4,040.70..
Gold is expected to continue rising based on consensus analyst forecasts. Goldman Sachs projects $4,900 by December 2026
Philippines President, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday led the signing of eight new Petroleum Service Contracts (PSCs) worth USD207 million to boost the country’s energy security and reduce its dependence on imported fuel. The contracts — covering exploration areas in Palawan, Sulu, Cagayan, Cebu, and Central Luzon — mark the largest batch of PSCs awarded in Philippine history, including the country’s first-ever native hydrogen exploration deals.
“These service contracts represent our continued efforts to attain greater energy security, economic stability, and self-reliance,” Marcos said during the ceremony in Malacañang.
The President noted that the Philippines remains “heavily dependent on imported oil,” citing that 99.68 percent of petroleum needs in 2024 were imported, while only 0.32 percent came from local production.The new PSCs are expected to unlock fresh investments in oil, gas, and hydrogen exploration, generating local jobs and stimulating regional development.
Among the awarded contracts are two jointly managed with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) — a first since the passage of the Bangsamoro Organic Law — covering exploration in the Sulu Sea. Read More

Repsol has achieved a new technological milestone by producing gasoline from 100% renewable sources on an industrial scale. This milestone, achieved at its Tarragona complex, positions Spain and the company at the forefront of the energy transition. This new product, made entirely from renewable sources, is fully compatible with gasoline vehicles without the need for any modifications. Its use reduces net CO2 emissions by more than 70% compared to conventional gasoline. Nexa 95 Gasoline of 100% renewable origin – Repsol’s highest-quality 95-octane product – is already available at 20 service stations in Spain, in the Madrid and Catalonia regions. The company expects to reach 30 stations by the end of this year, in other Spanish cities such as Tarragona, Valencia, Zaragoza, and Bilbao.
With this new fuel, Repsol expands its range of renewable fuels, adding it to the already available Nexa Diesel of 100% renewable origin. This demonstrates that decarbonizing transport with renewable liquid fuels is a viable solution for combustion engine vehicles, whether gasoline, diesel, or hybrid. These vehicles today represent 97% of the Spanish and European vehicle fleet, and 87% of sales in Spain so far this year.

The new Daimler Truck logistics site in the Halberstadt East Industrial Park covers approximately 270,000 square meters.
