Dana Gas Confirms New Gas Discovery in Egypt’s Nile Delta

London, December 12, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) ––Dana Gas PJSC has announced a significant new gas find following the successful drilling of the North El-Basant 1 exploration well in Egypt’s onshore Nile Delta. Early results indicate 15–25 billion cubic feet (bcf) of recoverable gas, with production expected to exceed 8 mmscfd once connected to Egypt’s national grid.

The discovery is part of Dana Gas’s $100 million, 11-well drilling programme, aimed at boosting reserves and supporting domestic demand. The company has already completed three wells earlier this year, adding 10 mmscfd, and recompleted three more wells outside the programme, adding 9 mmscfd.

Combined, new drilling and recompletion activities are contributing roughly 30 mmscfd of fresh production. Dana Gas plans to spud the programme’s fifth well, Daffodil, in early January 2026.
