02 Feb Ford’s All-Electric Explorer Gets New Battery Option
Ford announced significant enhancements to its all-electric Explorer SUV and Capri sports crossover, introducing a new battery option and upgraded electric motor for the most affordable Standard Range models. These improvements are designed to offer customers on a smaller budget greater freedom to explore and enjoy their journeys, delivering increased range and flexibility alongside a boost in power and torque.
The upgraded powertrain brings a range improvement of up to 70 km for the Standard Range Capri and Explorer models. Explorer Standard Range will now offer up to 444 km 1 on a full charge, while the Capri Standard Range is capable of up to 464 km, 2 marking an increase of up to 17 percent. This extended range is comfortably beyond 400 km, an important milestone for many customers.

Beyond the increased range, the enhancements also boost performance, with power increased to 190 PS and torque to 350 Nm. 3 Both the Capri and Explorer models can now achieve 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds, providing quicker acceleration and a more dynamic driving experience. A key component of this update is the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which not only offers better durability and reduces reliance on high-demand raw materials, but also allows customers to regularly charge to 100 per cent capacity without concerns about battery degradation. This provides even greater convenience and flexibility, enabling less frequent charging and making longer trips more practical. Read More
