Contenders Bidding for ScotWind offshore wind lease
Organised by Crown Estate Scotland (CES), ScotWind is a programme which will lease areas of the seabed around Scotland for wind farm developments. Developers apply to the scheme and, if successful, will be granted the rights to build wind farms in Scottish waters. The project hopes to generate as much as 10GW of new enegy capacity over the next decade as a product of ScotWind.
Major Energy Industry Developers are competing to secure property rights for seabeds, opening the door for them to build commercial offshore wind farms.
Here is a list of companies that have reportedly signed, sealed and delivered their bids to secure seabed rights around the Scottish coast.
BP and Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW)

TotalEnergies, announced its ScotWind entry in partnership with Green Investment Group (GIG) and Renewable Infrastructure Development Group.

Eni and Red Rock Power announced they had teamed up in order to enter the process.

There is a real global interest in the development of Scotland’s Scotwind project.
The application window opened in January 2021, and closed 5pm on Friday 16 July.
