AFL Donates $1 Million to Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts
The South Carolina-based fiber optics manufacturer additionally raised over $120,000 through an associate and agent giving campaign.
SPARTANBURG, S.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AFL today announced a $1 million donation to Samaritan’s Purse in support of hurricane restoration and rebuilding efforts across South Carolina and Western North Carolina. The donation comes as communities continue to recover from the devastating impact of the recent Hurricane Helene.
Through Samaritan’s Purse, an organization providing emergency assistance on the ground, the funds will provide direct, long-term support to areas most significantly impacted by widespread storm damage. AFL has a history of supporting and positively impacting the community in times of need. This contribution aligns with AFL’s core values and its commitment to remain community centered, reflected in its extensive Community Outreach Program.
“Supporting communities where we work and live is ingrained in our culture. Our hearts go out to those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene, and we are working to do our part to help support our friends, family and associates during these challenging times,” said Jaxon Lang, AFL President and CEO.
In addition to the corporate donation, AFL associates and agents have independently raised $60,000 through donations to both Samaritan’s Purse and the American Red Cross. The company has committed to matching these contributions dollar-for-dollar, further amplifying the impact of community giving.
“We are grateful to our customers and associates for putting AFL in a position to contribute to these efforts financially, as well as to our manufacturing, product and sales teams who are helping restock electric utility companies with conductor hardware and cable used to rebuild and restore the Electric Grid,” Lang continued.
“We are deeply thankful for AFL’s donation to support our work in response to Hurricane Helene,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “We’ve provided heaters, generators, fuel, solar lights, blankets, winter clothing, food, water and much more for these people who have lost so much.”
