Alliant Energy named to 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

The index dives into environmental, social and governance data reporting

MADISON, Wis.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In recognition of its focus on inclusion, Alliant Energy was recently named to the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the fifth consecutive year. The GEI is a weighted index developed by Bloomberg to gauge the performance of companies based on gender-related data.

This index measures company equality across five pillars: Leadership and talent pipeline, pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and external brand.

“Equality in pay, leadership, and overall employee experience contribute immensely to a company’s ability to attract and retain the best talent,” said Diane Cooke, Vice President of Human Resources at Alliant Energy. “Our efforts to create and sustain an inclusive, welcoming workplace benefits our employees, future employees and ultimately, our customers. A welcoming workplace cultivates new ideas and solutions that advance our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.”

Alliant Energy provides resources to employees that foster inclusion and a better understanding about diversity. Our Employee Resource Groups give all employees an opportunity to grow professionally, network, build community relationships and socialize with other employees.

The 484 companies included on this year’s index scored at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect disclosure and the achievement or adoption of best-in-class statistics and policies related to gender equality.

“Congratulations to the companies that are included in the 2023 GEI,” said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg. “We continue to see an increase in both interest and membership globally, reflecting a shared goal of transparency in gender-related metrics.”

In addition to inclusion on this list, Alliant Energy has also been included on Forbes’ list of Best Midsize Employers and Newsweek’s Most Responsible Companies 2023 list, in addition to earning a perfect score on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.

The 2023 GEI represents 45 countries and regions, including firms headquartered in Luxembourg, Ecuador, and Kuwait. Member companies represent a variety of industries, including financial, technology, and utilities, which continue to have the highest company representation in the index from 2022.
