Scenic E-Tech electric: new features to make the EV life simpler
Scenic E-Tech electric is the new-generation family car: it’s all-electric, sustainably designed and packed with helpful, intuitive technology, developed by Ampere. It’s also lightweight (1,890 kg), compact (4.47 metres long) and a pleasure to drive in cities and on long journeys (up to 625 km WLTP range).
Beyond its bold and modern upgrades, Scenic is truer than ever to its long-standing purpose as the household’s main car for everyday drives as much as long journeys, along or with your family. Quality of life on board is built into its DNA. And Scenic E-Tech electric, which was named The Car of the Year 2024, promises a drive in a class by itself that everyone will enjoy sharing.
As all the other models in its electric line-up, Renault is constantly enhancing Scenic E-Tech with new features and equipments to take full advantage of the EV experience.
Smooth and relaxed driving with One Pedal
Scenic E-Tech electric versions with regenerative braking systems and steering-wheel paddles now include One Pedal. Besides adding a fifth regeneration layer, the system enables you to speed up, slow down and stop at signs or red lights using only the pedal on the right, without touching the one in the middle – which is of course still available in case you need to brake harder. This technology developed by Ampere has several other upsides: besides smoother and less demanding driving in cities, it reduces brake-pad wear and optimises energy harvesting.
One Pedal may be retrofitted onto vehicles that already have steering-wheel paddles (with a free-of-charge update at a Renault network garage or over the air).
New 11 kW and 22 kW bidirectional chargers for extra convenience
Scenic E-Tech electric now comes as standard with an 11 kW AC two-way charger, which can handle any power rating from 3 kW (single-phase) to 11 kW (three-phase). A new 22 kW AC bidirectional fast charger – enabling an 80 km top-up in 30 minutes at public stands – will be available as an option by summer 2025. . Read Related News

Hyundai Motor Company and the Whitney Museum of American Art today announced the opening of Hyundai Terrace Commission: Marina Zurkow: The River is a Circle. The second exhibition in this series is presented on the Whitney’s fifth-floor terrace as part of a 10-year partnership between Hyundai Motor and the Whitney, and will be on view from April 9, 2025, through early 2026.
Created in collaboration with James Schmitz and Blake Goble, this innovative work by Marina Zurkow comprises an animation and accompanying installation. The River is a Circle builds on the artist’s previous pieces, Hudson Follies (2022) and Does the River Flow Both Ways? (2022), which offer a split view of the Hudson River, allowing visitors to simultaneously observe the world above and below the water. Shown on a large-scale video wall, The River is a Circle is an animation based on custom software that depicts a complex river ecosystem of fluctuating social and biological groups, such as references to hyperlocal community history, barges with historical scenes traveling along the water, schools of fish and oyster reefs. The dynamic elements of this ecosystem are driven by algorithmic probability. Responding to real-time weather, the software system continuously reflects New York City’s current conditions and seasons.
Focusing on the Meatpacking District surrounding the Whitney Museum, The River is a Circle explores a combination of local history and river ecology, researched with the help of Hudson River Park Trust. This site-specific work alludes to significant moments that have impacted the Manhattan neighborhood’s evolution, such as the Lenape trading post located nearby, the meatpacking industry, the illicit nightlife of the 1970s, gentrification, and the adjacent installations by artists Gordon Matta-Clark and David Hammons. The artist intends to speculate on a circular economy and a potentially positive return to more modest strategies of maintaining ecosystems.. Read Related News

The Renault brand and Jean-Michel Jarre are continuing a shared adventure in sound that began in 2022. In renewing this partnership for a further four years (from 2025 up to and including 2028), the idea is to develop even more immersive sound experiences for users of brand vehicles.
Jean-Michel Jarre is an iconic artist and composer, sound engineer and pioneer of electronic music. His expertise and experience in electro-acoustic research and musical creativity is a close fit with the innovation DNA of Renault. In collaboration with the UX/UI design and engineering departments at the Technocentre, as well as with IRCAM, audio suppliers and other partners, Jean-Michel Jarre will design and develop audio systems as well as creating new sounds and new musical experiences to consolidate and enrich the Renault sound experience.
The first phase of the partnership created a true sound identity for Renault vehicles, with the development of in-car soundscapes reflecting the type of music, along with a tune to welcome drivers getting into the car, and a VSP (Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians) emitted by E-Tech electric vehicles (Scenic, Megane, Renault 5, etc.) and E-Tech full hybrid vehicles (Rafale, Austral, Symbioz, etc.) at speeds below 30 km/h to warn pedestrians. The welcome sound exists in three versions, including one for Esprit Alpine models and one for the recent Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech electric, referred to as the “Iconic” version. In the case of the VSP, co-designed with IRCAM, an in-depth analysis was conducted to create a sound that would reflect the identity of the Renault brand, making it recognisable in the urban soundscape, while symbolising a respectful vision of mobility.
The renewal of the partnership is part of a more ambitious, longer-term objective: to explore the new areas opened up by AI in order to deliver an exceptional sound experience with an avant-garde audio definition meeting the highest standards of excellence. Passengers will be able to enjoy the unique and subtle harmony of the “Renault x JMJ” immersive sound environment.
This new four-year partnership is in line with the product planning timeline of the Renault brand, and the arrival of new models incorporating the creative features and innovations developed with Jean-Michel Jarre. Read Related News

Neste, the world’s leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), has started producing SAF at its renewable products refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The refinery has been modified to enable Neste to produce up to 500,000 tons of SAF per annum. As a result, Neste’s global SAF production capability has increased to 1.5 million tons (around 1.875 billion liters) per annum.
“It is clear that we need to continue making progress in mitigating climate change and addressing aviation’s climate impact. Neste is fully committed to supporting its customers in the aviation industry to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and this milestone underlines that commitment. Our SAF production capability, now also in Rotterdam, enables us to significantly contribute to the implementation of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and similar SAF mandates. Policies like these are crucial to ramping-up SAF production and usage, and we need to keep our ambitions and targets high. At the same time it requires support and close cooperation across the whole aviation ecosystem to accelerate the energy transition and related emission reductions,” said Heikki Malinen, President and CEO of Neste. TRATON GROUP got off to a slow start in 2025. In the first quarter of 2025, lower unit sales were recorded in a challenging market environment. Based on preliminary figures, a total of 73,100 vehicles were delivered to customers in the first quarter of 2025, 10% less than in the prior-year quarter. In the same period of the previous year, the TRATON GROUP had still benefited from a high order backlog. By contrast, unit sales for all-electric vehicles rose sharply. In the first quarter of 2025, Scania sold around 16% fewer vehicles than in the prior-year quarter. Unit sales for MAN Truck & Bus decreased by 14%. Both brands were affected by continued subdued customer demand in Europe.
Unit sales for International were down by 12% compared with the prior-year quarter. The US market is continuing to suffer from a low transportation activity. In addition, uncertainties in the market due to the possible impact of tariffs had a negative effect.
In the first quarter of 2025, Volkswagen Truck & Bus once again sold more vehicles than in the prior-year quarter, an increase of 16%. This was attributable in particular to the still strong market for trucks in Brazil. However, there are signs of weakening market momentum in Brazil due to the challenging economic development. By contrast, there is positive development in the Argentinian market, where both Scania and VWTB are active. The TRATON GROUP will publish its 3M 2025 Interim Statement on April 28, 2025. Through APA the industry has gained regular access to new acreage on the Norwegian continental shelf. Today, this includes nearly all the acreage that has been opened for petroleum activity. The Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s interactive map shows high activity and continuous exploration in the mature NCS (Norwegian continental shelf) areas from 2004 to 2024. The light green area shows active production licences, while the darker green areas show awarded production licences for each year. The map shows a high level of activity and continuous exploration in the mature areas on the Shelf.
The annual APA (Awards in predefined areas), rounds are the most important driver for exploration on the NCS. This is the result of more than 20 years of continuously expanding the available acreage and securing predictable framework conditions through the annual licensing rounds.
“This has ensured predictability for the industry. Nearly all acreage opened for petroleum activity on the NCS is now included in APA. There is still some acreage available within the mature areas where there has been less exploration. We encourage more exploration and a greater willingness to take chances. Higher risk can yield higher rewards,” says Kjersti Dahle, Director of offshore new ventures.
The APA scheme was introduced for the most well-explored parts of the continental shelf in 2003. It’s important to ensure good utilisation of the infrastructure over time in order to achieve good resource management and high value creation.
The companies’ deadline for nominating blocks for next year’s APA is by September. Read More
