Opel announced that it will introduce new generations of its Combo compact, Vivaro mid-size and Movano large-size light commercial vehicles (LCV). Each model will feature new exterior styling and a redesigned cockpit, while the battery-electric versions will continue to offer class-leading driving range. In addition, the German brand announced that the new Movano will also be available as a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in the near future.

The upcoming light commercial vehicle models from the brand with the Blitz will be immediately recognisable thanks to the new, LCV-specific interpretation of the Opel Vizor brand fascia familiar from Opel’s newest passenger cars. The Vizor integrates the brand emblem with the signature front lighting systems, creating a single visual unit that stretches fully across the face of the vehicle.

In addition to the exterior design, the interiors of the new Opel Combo, Vivaro and Movano have undergone further development. The highlights of the refreshed cockpits will include new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-compatible infotainment systems with colour touchscreens up to 10 inches in size. The battery-electric versions of the new Opel Combo, Opel Vivaro and Opel Movano will continue to offer uncompromised usability similar to that of the respective combustion engine variants. Thanks to state-of-the-art battery technologies and enhancements such as further improved drivetrain efficiency, all three will therefore continue to offer class-leading, locally emissions-free battery-electric range. The new range of Opel light commercial vehicles will carry over all the strengths of their predecessors. These include a wide range of advanced driver assistance systems to make journeys and manoeuvring more comfortable and above all safer. Furthermore, the trio will be available in various lengths, heights and body types to meet all professional needs, and they will maintain their convincing load volumes, payloads and towing capacities. Opel will reveal more details about the individual vehicle lines in the coming weeks. Read full article

mercedes GLE-and-GLE-Coupe

Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ as an SUV (combined fuel consumption, weighted: 1.5‑1.3 l/100 km, combined CO₂ emissions, weighted: 33‑29 g/km, combined energy consumption, weighted: 30.0-28.7 kWh/100 km)[1] and as Coupé (combined fuel consumption, weighted: 1.4-1.2 l/100 km, combined CO₂ emissions, weighted: 31‑27 g/km, combined energy consumption, weighted: 29.2‑28.0 kWh/100 km)1 the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is supplementing the model portfolio with a plug-in hybrid with a high level of everyday use and long electric range. The basis for the sporty driving experience is the 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo engine. For use in the hybrid, the engine known from the conventional GLE was extensively modified again. At 330 kW (449 hp), it now produces 10 kW (14 hp) more than before. The update measures include reprogrammed software and an additional nose cooler. The electric additional compressor could be omitted in the hybrid variant because the electric motor takes over its tasks such as electrical boosting. The result: The 3.0‑litre engine reacts extremely spontaneously and offers highly dynamic response.

The in-line six‑cylinder is combined with a 100‑kW electric motor, a traction battery with 31.2 kWh capacity and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The high power density of the hybrid power unit is achieved by the permanently excited internal rotor synchronous technology. The electric motor’s maximum torque of 480 Nm is available from the first revolution and ensures high agility even when starting off.

The system output of 400 kW (544 hp) and the maximum system torque of 750 Nm enable impressive driving performance: acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes 4.7 seconds. The propulsion only ends at an electronically limited speed of 250 km/h. Up to 140 km/h are possible purely electrically. With an electric range of 80‑86 kilometres (SUV) and 82‑87 kilometres (Coupé) according to WLTP, most everyday distances can be covered purely electrically. A charger with 11 kW charging power is on board for charging with alternating current. In addition, a 60 kW DC fast charger for direct current is available upon request. This allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% charge within 20 minutes. Read full article

An unprecedented ecosystem of 19 leading innovators in the automotive, bicycle and technology sectors have joined forces to work towards advancing and deploying connected transportation solutions to help reduce the risks facing cyclists and e-bike riders on North American roads. The new Coalition for Cyclist Safety represents a commitment to develop a comprehensive approach to bicycle safety centered on deployments of vehicle-to-everything technology. In the last year, the U.S. Department of Transportation has embarked on strategies to unlock the connected V2X ecosystem as a key technological solution to improve road safety for vulnerable road users. Members of the Coalition believe that V2X has safety benefits, as well as the potential to reduce congestion. The new Coalition is committed to deploying critical components of that roadmap to improve safety for cyclists, and enlist other supporters for this mission. The Coalition participants intend to work together on integrating bicycles into the future V2X communication ecosystem. By enabling V2X-equipped cars, bicycles and other road participants can recognize each other and create mutual awareness, thereby raising the possibility of lowering the number of injuries from crash situations. Additionally, these efforts will benefit from insights and advice provided by cycling, safety and smart-transportation advocates and associations under an Advisory Committee of the Coalition. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, bicycles constitute one percent of all trips across the United States, but represent two percent of all traffic fatalities. Saab’s Board of Directors has decided on a Key Employee Plan 2024 (KEY 2024), a long-term incentive program for key employees. KEY 2024 is a continuation of the ongoing Key Employee Plan 2023, with corresponding conditions.
KEY 2024 is a complement to Saab’s long-term share-based incentive programme and the purpose is to retain key employees. 1,500 Saab Group key employees can be offered participation in KEY 2024.The programme does not include the Board, the CEO, members of the Group Management or other senior managers. The participants are selected based on critical skills, performance or potential.

The participants in KEY 2024 will be granted an award of a potential amount corresponding 15 per cent of the participant’s annual salary. The amount will be converted into a number of synthetic shares based on the share price for the Saab share of series B on Nasdaq Stockholm at the time of grant. KEY 2024 has a three-year vesting period and begins in February 2024 and ends approximately three years later. The total amount payable may not exceed 30 per cent of the participant’s annual salary. In order to receive full payment, the participant needs to remain employed within the Saab Group during the entire three-year period. Cash payment takes place on two occasions; after approximately two and three years respectively from the start of the plan with 50 percent of the award on each occasion.

The amount which the participants may receive is driven by the share price development of the Saab share during the three-year period. At the respective time of payment, the synthetic shares are converted into an amount based on the share price at the time of payment. The amount is paid out in cash to the participants after deduction of tax.KEY 2024 will not lead to any dilution of existing shareholders’ shares but only entail a cost for Saab. The total effect on the income statement is estimated to approximately SEK 191 million distributed over the years 2024-2027. The Board of Directors’ intention is to annually decide on incentive plans corresponding to the KEY 2024. Read More

Net-zero carbon emissions. That is what Renault Group has pledged to achieve at its ElectriCity hub and Cléon plant by 2025 then throughout its industrial operations by 2030. It is tackling the issue from two angles: gravitating towards low-carbon energy and enhancing energy efficiency. The key for the second is the ability to monitor and regulate plant consumption in real time. That was a sizeable challenge for Renault Group’s teams on the ground. And they pulled it off with Ecogy, a portal developed in-house in record time and now up, running and delivering results. So what is Ecogy? How is it used? What kind of concrete measures has brought about and how much energy is it actually saving? Take the tour, with Sébastien and Xavier. Driving a car without a dashboard: that, figuratively speaking, is how Renault Group would be managing electricity consumption at its industrial plants without the Ecogy portal. This tool, which measures consumption in real time then processes and analyses the data, is vital to improve each plant’s energy performance and, at the end of the day, help the Group reach its net-zero carbon emissions target. Our two experts show you why Ecogy is so essential. The first step in Renault Group’s energy efficiency strategy – and the first building block in the system that has grown into the Ecogy portal – was fitting 10,000 sensors in workshops (including 1,500 in 2022) and connecting 8,500 processes to the cloud, mostly in plants but also in offices (Technocentres). Renault is opening more than a new chapter in its international history. It is a new lease of life, stemming from the Renaulution, coming our way with eight new models to be launched by 2027. This offensive, backed by a €3 billion investment, will boost the brand’s performance in these key historical regions. Renault is aiming for a double net revenue per unit sold outside Europe in 2027, compared with 2019.

As it does in Europe, the brand will balance its international segment mix thanks to an offensive of five new C- and D-segment products. At the same time, it will strengthen its position in the B segment with Kardian, which will enter the market in Latin America and Morocco next year. Lowering CO2 emissions for the upcoming vehicles is also a strong goal of this plan, officially called “Renault brand international game plan 2027”. This will be achieved first with hybrid powertrains for the future line-up, but also with the introduction of E-Tech electric models in several countries outside Europe, like Megane E-Tech electric which is already available in Brazil and Türkiye. Thus, Renault aims at selling one car out of three with electric or hybrid version outside Europe by 2027.

“As our product renewal is bearing fruit in Europe, we are now going to make the brand more global and more profitable. Thus, Renault is now going on the offensive outside Europe with eight new vehicle launches between now and 2027, based on a reduced number of platforms, shared across regions and thereby enhancing our synergies.” Fabrice Cambolive, CEO, Renault brand Read full article

The launch of Kardian marks another step in the Renaulution strategic plan – the start of the “Renovation” phase in Renault’s international markets. This brand-new model is the first in a full range of vehicles with an international focus, illustrating the brand’s new strategy for non-European markets. Developed in line with market expectations and in close collaboration with teams based in countries where Renault has a long-standing presence and teams at the Technocentre, this model will go on sale in Latin America before arriving in other non-European markets. Renault Kardian is a compact urban B-segment vehicle with Renault’s DNA at the heart of its design, both in its style and its equipment. Its front end showcases the brand’s new stylistic identity, featuring the “Nouvel’R” logo and a new signature lighting pattern.

Resolutely modern, Kardian boasts innovations and features usually reserved for higher segment vehicles – 17-inch rims, a high console with an “e-shifter” gear selector, as well as MULTI‑SENSE settings offering different driving modes and eight ambient lighting options. Renault Kardian is also equipped with six airbags, as well as 13 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as a blind spot warning system and a multi-view camera system.

Kardian inaugurates a new Renault platform that is modular and highly versatile and will enable the development of a diverse range of models for a number of non-European markets. At launch, Kardian will feature an innovative mechanical combination in South America Kardian will be launched with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged of 125 hp with 220 Nm of torque direct injection engine coupled with an Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic transmission.

Backed by its long-standing industrial presence in several regions worldwide, Renault will produce Kardian at the Curitiba plant in Brazil first, then, thanks to the agility and flexibility of our industrial system, at the Casablanca (SOMACA) plant in Morocco. Read full article
