Be Charge to build high-speed charging networks in Europe
The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), which manages the European Commission’s programmes for decarbonization and sustainable growth, has selected a project by Be Charge, a subsidiary of Plenitude (Eni), to build one of the largest high-speed charging networks in Europe. One of the Company’s main goals is to build one of the largest high-power infrastructure projects along key European transport corridors (TEN-T), parking areas and major urban centres by 2025, across eight countries: Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia and Greece.
The project has been selected under the Connecting Europe Facility, a European Union funding programme and specifically under the Alternative fuels infrastructure facility in support of European transport infrastructure, which covers electric vehicle charging and hydrogen, among other solutions.
Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) acted as the European Commission’s implementing partner for Italy, confirming its role as a facilitator in accessing European programmes and resources for Italian companies and as a lender in support of the development of transport infrastructure and sustainable mobility.
The European Commission awarded a non-repayable grant to 24 European projects. This award will contribute to build an environmentally sustainable transport network.
Plenitude CEO Stefano Goberti said: “This important contribution granted by the EU, alongside Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, is a highly prestigious achievement for our company and will benefit both Italy and Europe. It is fully in line with Be Charge’s strategic plan to develop a European high-power charging network for electric vehicles that connects the continent’s main routes and urban centres”.
