Brillion Expands Capacity to Serve Commercial & Industrial Customers with Acquisition of Automated Energy, Inc.

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Brillion, a leader in customer engagement and program management solutions for utilities, today announced its acquisition of Automated Energy, Inc. (AEI). This move expands Brillion’s capacity to help electricity providers better serve and educate their commercial and industrial (C&I) accounts through AEI’s innovative energy analytics solutions.

Brillion CEO Jon Ezrine emphasized the importance of this acquisition: “As energy costs continue to rise, electric utilities must better understand and communicate with both residential and C&I customers. While C&I customers may represent less than 20% of a utility’s total customer count, they can account for 50% to 80% of energy consumption. This underscores the critical need for enhanced engagement with C&I customers to move toward a more energy-efficient, sustainable future.”

Ezrine noted that historically, utilities have focused on providing residential customers with a consumer-quality experience, while C&I customers have been overlooked. “With Automated Energy, we’re changing that,” he stated.

Brillion now offers utilities interactive analytic tools for their C&I customers to make data-driven, energy-consumption decisions. These capabilities complement Brillion’s existing end-to-end customer engagement tools, including personalized video bill explanations, virtual home audits, a program management platform and more.

Today, Brillion utility customers will be able to better engage their C&I customers, share electrical usage data, personalize their experience and drive energy-saving outcomes. Specifically, these capabilities will help C&I accounts:

  • Track energy consumptions and costs daily: With a 360-degree look at their consumption practices, organizations can use interactive dashboards to view their profile information, compare rate and price offers, and calculate bill estimates from what-if scenarios.
  • Make smarter, data-driven energy decisions: Roll up energy consumption costs at an enterprise or organization level, or drill down to an individual meter, submeter, or facility to identify trends and uncover areas for improvement.
  • Save money by scheduling energy use at optimal times: Clear-cut answers at their fingertips allow C&I customers to pick the right rate plan for their operations, schedule energy usage outside peak hours, and do their part to ensure a stable, reliable grid.
  • Gain daily insights into energy consumption: Receive automated alerts summarizing peak demand, enabling proactive identification of potential issues and improved demand management.

“We’re thrilled to have AEI’s employees, solutions and customers to join the Brillion team,” said Automated Energy, Inc. President Cody Graves. “For 25 years, we’ve focused on delivering superior customer service along with purpose-built tools that help utilities conserve resources by saving energy and reducing costs. Brillion has this mindset. Together, we offer a powerful, end-to-end customer engagement solution to optimize energy consumption and reduce costs.”
