DC BLOX Appoints Greg Carender as Chief Operating Officer

Mark Masi to Lead Strategic Growth as Chief Development Officer

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#CDODC BLOX, a leading provider of digital infrastructure across the Southeastern United States, today announces the addition of Greg Carender as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective March 17, 2025, with Mark Masi moving into the role of Chief Development Officer. Carender brings extensive global experience in hyperscale data center development, operations, and green energy infrastructure, reinforcing DC BLOX’s mission to deliver world-class digital infrastructure solutions across the Southeast.

Carender joins DC BLOX from AdaniConneX, a joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX, where he served as COO. In this role, he led the development and operations of hundreds of megawatts (MW) of master-planned data center capacity across India while overseeing a team of 300+ professionals across engineering, construction, safety, procurement, and operations. Under his leadership, AdaniConneX became a key force in India’s digital infrastructure and renewable energy transformation, backed by more than 25 gigawatts (GW) of green energy capacity. Carender will oversee DC BLOX’s Data Center Engineering and Construction, Network Operations, Project Management Office, Purchasing, Data Center Operations, Fiber Development, IT, and Security.

“Greg is an extraordinary leader with a deep understanding of hyperscale customer needs, operational excellence, and sustainable infrastructure,” said Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX. “His track record of scaling mission-critical infrastructure globally makes him the ideal person to lead our operations as we enter our next phase of growth.”

Prior to AdaniConneX, Carender spent 20 years in construction management, consulting, and development, including at PwC where he led major capital projects across commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and nuclear facilities. He joined EdgeConneX in 2016 and played a pivotal role in deploying Hyperscale campuses across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia.

“With its strategic footprint, ambitious pipeline, and unique positioning to meet the rising demand for hyperscale, enterprise, and network infrastructure, DC BLOX has the right ingredients to become a dominant force in digital infrastructure across the Southeast,” added Greg Carender. “I’m excited to help accelerate this momentum, scale operations, and deliver world-class digital solutions to our customers and communities.”

In conjunction with Carender’s appointment, DC BLOX also announced that Mark Masi will transition into the role of Chief Development Officer (CDO), where he will focus on land acquisition, tax incentives, energy procurement, and strategic partnerships—critical functions that will fuel the company’s long-term growth.

“Mark has been instrumental in DC BLOX’s success to date, and his new role as CDO enables him to focus on high-impact initiatives that are foundational to our strategy,” Uphues added. “With Greg and Mark in these key positions, DC BLOX is well-positioned to scale our infrastructure and deliver greater value to our customers and communities.”

As the company accelerates its expansion across the Southeast, these leadership moves strengthen DC BLOX’s ability to meet growing demand with speed, innovation, and operational excellence.
