Farmington: Largest Solar Farm in Maine

Juno Beach, Florida-headquartered energy company NextEra financed and developed the $110 million solar farm. Farmington Solar LLC is a subsidiary of NextEra.

The 300,000-panel solar farm sits on 500 acres of leased land on Route 2 in the town of Farmington. An aerial flyover of the $110 million, 76.5-megawatt solar farm on 500 acres of leased land from Sandy River Farm on Route 2 in Farmington, Maine where there are over 300,000 solar panels being installed.

The project will net the town about $20 million in taxes during the course of the 30-year agreement. The panels are expected to last between 25 and 40 years.
