Fermata Energy Named Honoree in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards 2024

Affordable Housing Vehicle-to-Grid Pilot Receives Honorable Mention in Sustainability Category

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fermata Energy, a leader in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) bidirectional charging technology solutions, is honored to announce that it has been named an honoree in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards’ Sustainability Category for 2024. The awards recognize innovation in products, concepts, companies and policies to make our world safer, cleaner, more sustainable and more equitable.

Fermata Energy’s entry, “Empowerment through Mobility and Sustainability,” showcases their pioneering Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) project at Girls Latin Apartments in Dorchester, Massachusetts. This first-in-nation pilot provides residents of an affordable housing complex access to electric vehicles (EVs) that also function as a power source for the building and energy grid when parked. The project uses bidirectional charging technology to help offset energy costs, making sustainable technology accessible and beneficial to all, especially in underserved communities.

“It is an honor to stand among other innovators who are driving significant change in their industries,” said Tony Posawatz, CEO of Fermata Energy. “We congratulate all the winners and honorees for their transformative efforts.”

The collaboration at Girls Latin Apartment addresses the pressing issues of environmental justice and urban sustainability. It also demonstrates the practical application of integrating clean transportation into low-income communities. This initiative offers a scalable, replicable model that could transform urban areas nationwide.

“In partnership with BlueHub Energy, BlueHub Capital, Enterprise Holdings, and the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corp., we have implemented a solution that bridges the gap between green technology and affordable access to electric vehicles.” Posawatz shared.

The V2G program at Girls Latin Apartments is already showing a significant impact by enhancing access to clean transportation and promoting energy independence. This project aligns with Fast Company’s vision by offering innovative, impactful, and scalable solutions to some of the most critical challenges of our time.

“Fermata Energy is dedicated to pushing forward sustainable and equitable clean energy solutions. We are excited about the future as we continue to expand the reach and impact of our projects,” concluded Posawatz.
