Infinitum Founder Ben Schuler Named Among Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s Green Ones to Watch

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Infinitum, creator of the sustainable electric motor, today announced that Ben Schuler, founder and CEO, has been named among Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s Green Ones to Watch, an inaugural list of people poised to be the climate leaders of tomorrow.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s Green Ones to Watch highlights 13 diverse, emerging leaders advancing the world toward net zero with innovations across renewable energy, carbon capture, climate science, cutting-edge emissions accounting and other energy-efficient technologies.

The billions of conventional electric motors we use to purify our air, propel our cars and power our data centers collectively consume more than half the world’s electricity. And millions more electric motors are entering the market each year to power EVs, AI and electrify industrial workloads. Ben Schuler saw a different way to think more holistically about what a motor can and should be. In 2016 he founded Infinitum to move the century-old motor industry into the future with its sustainable, high-efficiency, air-core motor system. Advanced, high-efficiency motors, like those from Infinitum, have the potential to significantly impact energy consumption and help address climate challenges.

When compared to traditional motors, the Infinitum motor system consumes 10-65% less energy, is 50% smaller and lighter and uses 66% less copper. Infinitum’s motor systems have an integrated variable frequency drive and can be customized to meet an application’s specific power and torque requirements to reduce strain on the electric grid by drawing less power. Infinitum motors also use fewer raw materials in manufacturing and modular design allows for motors to be easily serviced, repaired, remanufactured or recycled to keep motors in service and out of landfills.

With their sheer volume and growing importance in our electrifying world, the efficiency, sustainability and circularity of electric motors matters to the world’s energy use, our ability to address climate change and our future,” said Ben Schuler, founder and CEO, Infinitum. “I’m thrilled to be recognized among the prestigious list of climate leaders and innovators in Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s Green Ones to Watch.”

The Green Ones to Watch will be recognized during the Bloomberg Green Festival, the premier event gathering business leaders, innovators, policymakers, entrepreneurs, artists, and activists, being held July 10-13th in Seattle.
