Istmo Energy Announces the Start of Operations at its Pecos-East Rail Terminal, and New Commercial Agreements for Fuel and Frac Sand Transloading and Distribution Services

FORT WORTH, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Energy–Istmo Energy, LLC (“Istmo”), announced today the start of commercial operations at the first of two rail terminals under its control. The Pecos-East Rail Terminal Istmo acquired in 2021, located in Pecos, Texas (Reeves County) consists of two unit-train loops with over 20,000 feet of usable track and direct connection to the UPRR. The terminal is also adjacent to highway I-20 and close to highway 285 and CR2119 offering unbeatable logistics advantages that can serve multiple locations within the heart of the Delaware Basin substituting long haul truck supply alternatives for both sand and diesel fuel.

“The strategic location of Istmo’s rail facilities provide an effective fuel and frac sand supply alternative to support the completion activities of operators in our part of the Delaware Basin. At a time of mounting supply-chain costs, constraints, and transport challenges, our terminals provide a cost-effective alternative to supply all drilling operations needs from fuels to proppant sand to drilling fluids” explained Alex Gutierrez, CEO of Istmo Energy. “As part of our commercial strategy, we are proud to announce our partnership with GHMR Operations, LLC, one of the Permian’s leading logistics and transload service providers with over 20 years of experience in the energy, proppant sand, and aggregate markets. GHMR will be running the rail and transloading operations for Istmo’s Pecos-East terminal and will provide its expertise and market reach to provide cost efficient frac-sand alternatives to operators in the area. GHMR has a strong history of developing key logistics solutions and rail services, and we’re confident this partnership will allow us to successfully service our customers”.

Once Istmo adds its Pecos-West Rail Terminal in the next 60 days, it will be able to offer more than 60,000 feet of usable track, 4-unit train loops, a unit-train manifest ladder and other infrastructure connected to the UPRR with eastbound and westbound switching capability to supply drilling operators in the basin.
