JLR Trials Drone Technology to Boost Factory Safety and Efficiency

London, December 03, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) ––JLR is piloting the use of advanced drones at its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, cutting machinery and site inspection time by up to 95%. The Flyability Elios 3 drone can access high and confined areas, allowing maintenance teams to inspect equipment safely from the ground without elevated platforms.

Equipped with LiDAR mapping and a thermal camera, the drone delivers live 3D visualisations, identifies faults, detects overheating components, and supports energy-efficiency improvements. JLR says the trial enhances worker safety, reduces maintenance downtime, and helps upskill employees as part of its “factory of the future” strategy.
