Mali Mining and Petroleum Conference and Exhibition

The ninth edition of the Mali Mining and Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (JMP 2021) will take place from 16 – 18 November 2021, in the Republic of Mali. The event is organized by the Ministry of Mines, Energy & Water, Mali in association with AME Trade Ltd, United Kingdom.

JMP’s main theme will be “Adding value to Mali’s mining & petroleum sector through local content and job creation”. JMP is already an established event in the global mining industry calendar and attracted over 400 delegates, 62 exhibitors from 20 countries during its last edition (2019). The event is Mali’s largest dedicated business to business trade event.


JMP 2021 is an all-encompassing mining event including: a two day mining conference, three day trade event and a packed social networking calendar. Global mining exploration and service companies who participate in JMP on a regular basis include Barrick, ENRROXS, IAMGOLD, B2Gold, Endeavour Mining, Total, Vivo Energy, Resolute Mining, Segala Mining and Bureau Veritas.

Mali produced 66.5 tonnes of gold in 2020, making it the third largest producer on the African continent. The country’s gold mines include: Loulo Gounkoto, Yatela, Sadiola, Gounkoto, Tabakoto, Metedia, Fekola, Komana, Kondieran, Kalana, Morila, Nampala and Syama. Gold mines which are expected to enter production in the next few years include: Finkolo, Banankoro and Kobada. Mali has revised its mining code in order to make it more investor friendly as well as incorporating sounder social and environmental considerations.


Mali is building increased capacity for the mining sector through: 1: 50,000 mapping project for the entire Birimian area, creating a modern documentation centre and the establishment of an African Mining School. The country is looking to diversify its mineral resources, 694,000 tonnes of lithium reserves have been discovered and production could start in 2022. Lithium is a key component of ion batteries in electric vehicles. Mali could become a regional hub for the export of construction materials by increasing production of dolerite, marble, limestone and granite.
