Extension of support for the Global Nature Fund for community – based mangrove conservation in five Asian countries • With its funding programmes, Mercedes-Benz seeks to make a relevant contribution to the preservation of natural CO2 sinks and resource conservation

Stuttgart. With a wide range of corporate citizenship initiatives and the promotion of charitable projects, Mercedes-Benz aims to make a positive worldwide contribution to society that goes beyond its own business activities. The Stuttgart region has always been of particular importance as the company’s main location: in autumn 2023, the company announced that it intended to commit an additional 24 million euros to society, environmental protection and culture in Stuttgart and the region.

With the “Climate Chance Moors” project, the implementation of the environmental protection programme is now beginning. The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony at the Wilhelmsdorf nature conservation centre was attended by local representatives from politics and civil society as well as Thekla Walker, Minister for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector in Baden-Württemberg, and Pia Simon, Director Integrity Management & Corporate Responsibility of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. “With strong partners for more environmental and resource protection: that is our goal with “Climate Chance Moore”.

By supporting the project, we want to make a relevant contribution to preserving natural CO2 sinks and protecting resources in the region. With the Wilhelmsdorf nature conservation centre, a sponsor for the project has been found who has the necessary expertise and infrastructure for rewetting and renaturation of moorlands. We are very much looking forward to the project!” Pia Simon, Director Integrity Management & Corporate Responsibility, Mercedes-Benz Group AG
