Shell’s Graff-1 well has made a “significant” discovery offshore Namibia, Reuters has reported citing three industry sources. The news agency reported that Namibia would make an announcement next week on the results. The well appears to have discovered two reservoirs. One has at least 60 metres of hydrocarbons, with an estimated 250-300 million barrels of oil equivalent. Upstream reported earlier in January that Shell had found liquids in the Cretaceous reservoir. General Motors announced plans to invest nearly $154 million in its Western New York Lockport Components plant. The investment will be used to renovate the facility and purchase and install new machinery and equipment used in the production of the stator module, a key component in an electric motor. Electric motors will be used in a variety of GM’s future Ultium Platform-based electric trucks and SUVs. Facility renovations will begin immediately.
As Lockport Components prepares for electric motor component production, the facility will continue to build a variety of components that support GM’s current truck and SUV production. Lockport Components currently produces radiators, condensers, heater cores, evaporators, HVAC modules, oil coolers and other components used in a variety of GM trucks. GM currently estimates Lockport Components will add approximately 230 positions between 2023 and 2026. GM continues to accelerate its growth as a platform innovator and announced new commercial applications of its HYDROTEC fuel cell technology. HYDROTEC projects, which are currently in development, from heavy-duty trucks to aerospace and locomotives, are being planned for use beyond vehicles for power generation.

A Mobile Power Generator (MPG) to provide fast-charge capability for EVs without installing permanent charge points The EMPOWER rapid charger to help retail fuel stations add affordable DC fast charging without expanding the grid A palletized MPG to quietly and efficiently power military camps and installations These fuel cell generators could ultimately replace gas- and diesel-burning generators with fewer emissions at worksites, buildings, movie sets, data centers, outdoor concerts and festivals. They could also back up or temporarily replace grid-sourced electricity for residential and small commercial enterprises at times of power disruption.
