Under the presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, the government of the Kingdom of Morocco and TE H2, along with its partners, signed a Preliminary Contract for Land Reservation for the ‘Chbika’ project.

This agreement will allow TE H2, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and the EREN Group, together with the two Danish companies, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund, and A.P. Møller Capital, through its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund, to launch the pre-FEED studies.

Located near the Atlantic coast in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, the ‘Chbika’ project aims to build 1 GW of onshore solar and wind capacities that will power the production of green hydrogen through the electrolysis of desalinated seawater and its transformation into 200,000 tons per year of green ammonia for the European market. This project will constitute the first phase of a development program aimed at creating a world-scale green hydrogen production hub.

TE H2 and CIP will be responsible for the development of renewable energy production (solar, wind, green hydrogen, and its derivatives), while A.P. Møller Capital will develop the port and associated infrastructure. This contract, a first in Morocco, will highlight the country’s exceptional renewable potential and contribute to the economic development of the Kingdom. Read More

Hydro Energi AS signed a long-term PPA with Markbygden Ett AB in 2017 for an annual baseload supply of 1.65 TWh in the period 2021-2039. The contract was a key enabler for financing and developing the onshore wind park Markbygden, located west of Piteå, in northern Sweden. The park’s annual production was estimated to be 2.2 TWh.

Due to significantly lower-than-expected production levels, Markbygden Ett AB has experienced financial challenges for several years. The wind park ceased power deliveries to Hydro on February 6, 2023, and entered into a company reorganization process in November 2023. As of third quarter 2024, non-delivered power since February 2023 amounts to 2.5 TWh.

According to the approved plan, Hydro is entitled to a total compensation of up to EUR 248 million as a settlement of the ongoing dispute relating to the company’s non-performance under the PPA, and as compensation to Hydro for the voluntary cancellation of the PPA. Any compensation to Hydro is subject to a future sale of the park, with the ultimate compensation received depending on the sale proceeds and an agreed value sharing mechanism. Hydro will continue to work constructively with the company towards improved operations and a future sale of the park. Read full article

In its mission to redefine how pipeline integrity is delivered to market, provider of AI-enhanced pipeline monitoring and leak detection technology, PipeSense, has announced the successful installation of three of its advanced systems across the U.S.
Supporting EnControl, a leading third-party control room company to the oil, gas, and hydrogen industries, PipeSense deployed its specialized ‘PipeSentry’ solutions to two separate natural gas systems in the American Midwest and one natural gas liquid system in the South.

PipeSenses-leak-detection-technology-PipeGuard-was-installed-at-a-natural-gas-systems-in-Michigan.jpg

Over the last 12 months, PipeSense has emerged as an industry leader in developing and delivering disruptive technologies that support pipeline operators to combat the consequences of leaks. Now, these new applications will further highlight the capabilities of PipeSense technology and how it ‘recalibrates’ customer expectations to fight back against the negative consequences of pipeline leaks for operators, communities, and the environment.
For the two natural gas systems – in Kansas and Michigan respectively – and a natural gas liquid system located in Tennessee, PipeSense met the client’s requirements to provide continuous leak detection monitoring. This was achieved by the recommendation of PipeSense’s pipeline leak detection system, PipeGuard. Via 24/7 monitoring, the PipeGuard system has been proven to accurately detect leaks without the risk of false positives.
Additionally, PipeSense was asked to provide automatic shut-in valve (ASV) control at one site location, which it was able to achieve through its customized system configuration capabilities. With delivery taking place in Q2 and Q3 this year (2024), PipeSense expects the clients to experience results in mitigating the potential risks caused by pipeline leaks shortly.
The delivery of these three systems follows a year of growth in which PipeSense has expanded the mileage guarded by its technology, including several high-consequence areas (HCA’s) throughout the Permian Basin, and additional projects in California, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.
The experienced team behind PipeSense have decades of experience in selecting, developing, and deploying complex pipeline integrity management technologies. Since going to market as PipeSense, its team has noticed a ‘worrying’ trend of pipeline integrity negligence. Via its expertise and technology, PipeSense has demonstrated a new standard to make a positive difference in the communities and regions it works within. Read More

To celebrate the indissoluble link between Alfa Romeo and Nicola Larini, 1993 DTM champion with the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI, the Stellantis Heritage department (Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, and Abarth) has created and developed the 4C – Collezione GT “Nicola Larini” project, which will feature three unique and spectacular models based on the supercar which brought the Biscione brand back to the USA in 2014.

The project has been unveiled today in a video (link) made in Turin at the Officine Classiche and the virtual room of the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, where Nicola Larini met up with Alessandro Ravera, Special Vehicles Operations Manager at Stellantis Heritage, and Alessandro Maccolini, the current Alfa Romeo Design Project Manager and the designer of the 4C. The video provides an exhilarating preview of these three collector’s items and highlights their exclusive look.

The decision to create this 4C tribute did not come about by chance. Nicola Larini had always expressed immense admiration for this vehicle, appreciating qualities which only a professional driver could comprehend, like its lightness, speed, reactivity, and grip. With a bold and aerodynamic design inspired by Alfa Romeo icons of the past, the 4C is a sporty vehicle with two bucket seats, rear-wheel drive, and a centrally placed engine, which is still impressive for a compact sports car today and capable of sending shivers down the spines of Alfa Romeo fans around the world. Bugatti’s long-held ethos of ‘form follows performance’, the W16 Mistral is defined by the harnessing of air. The truly elemental driving experience is only made possible by a century-born mastery of aerodynamics; both fused together to form an open-air masterpiece – an intense roofless experience at 420 km/h that celebrates design and engineering at its zenith.

For Bugatti’s master designers, the quest to perfect the art of aerodynamics began at the very front of the W16 Mistral – with an icon of the Bugatti marque reimagined for pushing the boundaries of innovation. The inimitable Bugatti horseshoe grille was crafted in a new form for the W16 Mistral, widened and equipped with perfectly aligned 3D-printed meshes to channel air into the central radiator – harnessing its power to provide critical cooling for the 1600 PS, quad-turbo W16.

The horseshoe grille channels the ingenuity of Bugatti’s design heritage, but the designers of the W16 sought to honor the spirit of the marque’s legendary innovation yet further. Read More

Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced new collision avoidance alerts that can provide advance warning to Volkswagen drivers of oncoming roadside hazards and notify certain oncoming vehicles that a Volkswagen vehicle is disabled. Starting later this fall, this feature will be included with VW Car-Net Safe & Secure subscriptions at no additional charge for most MY24 and MY25 Volkswagen vehicles equipped with the proper technology.

Volkswagen is the first automaker in the United States to integrate H.E.L.P. ® (Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol) and Road Awareness collision avoidance alerts within a suite of connected vehicle services. Vehicle H.E.L.P. can be activated manually when the driver turns on their hazard lights or automatically when airbags deploy. With Road Awareness Alerts, Volkswagen drivers can receive digital notifications when they are approaching certain disabled vehicles or in the path of an emergency vehicle.
