Ørsted fund award over £3.5million to community projects in Cumbria and Lancashire
Sixteen organisations from coastal communities in Cumbria and Lancashire are celebrating the news that they have been awarded a total of more than £250,000 in grants as part of Ørsted’s Walney Extension Community Fund.
Launched in 2016, Ørsted has now supported 200 projects in the region through the main Walney Extension Community Fund and the dedicated Skills Fund. Successful groups have shared a huge windfall of £3,518,456.
Imran Nawaz, Stakeholder Advisor & Community Benefit Fund Manager for Ørsted, said: “With this latest round of grant awards we have passed two very significant milestones, awarding more than £3.5 million to a total of 200 local community projects. The aim of our community funds is to help support the incredible hard work and dedication of local organisations who are striving to make a real difference. It’s a pleasure to be able to support these local projects and help them to make a lasting positive impact.”

- Lancaster City Council (Friends of Greaves Park) – £15,000
- South Lakes Citizens Advice – £25,000
- Kendal Windows on Art – £4,700
- St John’s Church, Waberthwaite – £15,000
- Friends of Bram – £5,000
