Pennsylvania American Water Invites Customers to Participate in PA PUC Public Input Hearings on Rate Request
During a series of 12 in-person and telephonic hearings Jan. 29-Feb. 7, customers can provide input on the company’s water and wastewater rate request, driven by $1 billion invested
MECHANICSBURG, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–$AWK–Pennsylvania American Water will join the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to hear public comment on the company’s recent rate request during a series of eight in-person and four telephonic public hearings to be held between Jan. 29 and Feb. 7. Customers are invited to provide input on the rate request Pennsylvania American Water filed on Nov. 8, 2023, to adjust its water and wastewater rates.
The rate request reflects $1 billion in water and wastewater system investments to be made between 2024 and 2025 to continue providing safe and reliable service. Any new rates would not take effect until August 2024, except for certain recently acquired systems where the rate increases are proposed to take effect at later dates. As part of the filing, the company is seeking approval to expand its income-based monthly bill discount program to include customers between 150 percent and 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which would result in an estimated 55,000 additional customers being eligible to receive discounted service.
