Project Canary Accelerates Climate Change Action with Hire of Elizabeth Stolpe

Stolpe to bolster Project Canary’s growth as the company works to drive public and private sector collaboration on climate

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Project Canary, the Denver-based climate tech and environmental assessment leader, announced a strategic addition to its public policy team today. Elizabeth Stolpe has been named Vice President U.S. and International Government Affairs. The company has been a constructive voice in driving market solutions to climate change. The addition of Stolpe will bolster the company’s role in emission measurement and climate change advocacy both nationally and internationally.

Project Canary is creating market-driven solutions, working closely across private and public sectors to pave the way towards meaningful and actionable policy.

Elizabeth Stolpe, Vice President of U.S. and International Government Affairs, brings over 30 years of experience, previously serving in the White House, at Royal Dutch Shell, and most recently working with the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Stolpe served on the White House Council on Environmental Quality from 2000 to 2006, leading several Presidential initiatives. She spent a decade at Royal Dutch Shell in the company’s Washington, D.C., office and in London as Business Advisor to the head of Shell’s international refining and marketing business while also leading its in-house strategy consultancy, and later as general manager in the Arctic exploration and production business, based in Houston. Most recently, Stolpe worked with the Washington, D.C.-based Bipartisan Policy Center’s Energy Program, guiding their oil and gas project.

“Market-driven action, combined with the right regulatory approaches, will incentivize the changes we need to make actual measurement the environmental performance standard. With her extensive experience in the public, private and NGO sectors, Elizabeth bolsters our global view,” said Chris Romer, Project Canary CEO, and Co-Founder.

“I am excited to join the Project Canary team and help to shape the growth of this critical sector,” said Stolpe. “There is growing interest at all levels of government in the U.S. and Europe in improved environmental reporting and performance. Market development paired with flexible regulatory systems will get us better results faster. Companies that can verify a lower greenhouse gas footprint will have a competitive advantage.”

Project Canary is the holistic, integrated environmental and social data measurement leader. The company delivers independent emission profiles with high-fidelity continuous monitoring technology to provide actionable environmental performance assessments. The only way to quickly address climate change, the most pressing challenge of our time, is to incorporate market solutions, like those provided by Project Canary, coupled with regulatory action.

“Altering the course of climate change requires cooperation and collaboration–across the aisle, across public and private sectors, and across international borders. With decades of experience in the oil and gas industry and in D.C., Elizabeth will play a critical role in helping Project Canary’s customers achieve net-zero goals,” said Bill Ritter, Former Colorado Governor, Senior Advisor, Project Canary.
