Reach Establishes Government Advisory Board to Drive Growth in Federal Business

Major General Clay Hutmacher Joins Reach Government Advisory Board

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#SOFWeekReach Power (Reach), the leader in wireless Power-at-a-Distance, today announced the creation of its Government Advisory Board. This newly established board, focused on guiding Reach’s growth in the public sector, will be anchored by Major General (Ret.) Clayton M. Hutmacher. The board will be composed of a senior group of former military and government executives who will provide strategic guidance and direction on how Reach can best meet the federal government’s growing operational energy needs. The announcement was made during Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week 2024 May 6-10 in Tampa, Florida where Reach will showcase its wireless power technology in a series of live demos.

Reach builds wireless power beaming systems that enable persistent drones, robotics, and sensors. Its wireless power transfer technology (WPT) uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to power and charge a range of electronic devices, from small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) to ground robots and hard-to-reach sensors, eliminating reliance on batteries, and reducing the need for manual battery swaps.

“Reach is pioneering innovative solutions that create ways to move energy without moving mass—a critical capability for our military’s operational success,” said Major General Hutmacher. “I am excited to be Reach’s first advisory board member and I look forward to both helping Reach build a strong board and bring wireless power technology directly to the warfighter.”

“We are delighted to welcome Major General Hutmacher, a distinguished leader with extensive experience in intelligence, special operations, and military strategy, to our Government Advisory Board,” said Chris Davlantes, Founder and CEO of Reach. “The formation of this board underscores our commitment to supporting the Department of Defense in enhancing mission efficiency and rapidly advancing technological capabilities.”

Major General (Ret.) Clayton M. Hutmacher has a distinguished military career spanning over 40 years. As an Army Special Operations Aviator, he commanded at every level during his three tours with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. His leadership experience includes positions such as Regimental Commander, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command, and Director of Operations at U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, FL. After retiring in 2018, Major General Hutmacher became the President and CEO of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

A native of Wenatchee, Washington, Major General Hutmacher was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval Command and Staff College, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
