spark Indigenous Energy Summit Launches on Tsuut’ina Nation, Filling a Critical Gap in Canada’s Indigenous Energy Dialogue

CALGARY, Alberta–(BUSINESS WIRE)–spark is a timely, purpose-driven response to a rapidly evolving landscape. As Indigenous participation in Canada’s $185 billion energy sector continues to grow – with over 300 Nations actively involved in oil and gas, renewables, hydro, Nuclear and infrastructure – the time is right for a large-scale national conversation solely focused on amplifying Indigenous voices and leadership in energy.

Created by a new, majority Indigenous-owned partnership between Mokwateh and Connect Partnership Group, spark is a high-impact summit and expo designed to ignite relationships, investment, and innovation.

From upstream to downstream, from energy generation to equity partnerships, spark brings together Indigenous leaders, energy executives, investors, and decision-makers from across Canada in an environment rooted in authenticity and respect.

The inaugural event, chaired by J.P. Gladu and guided by a leadership council with deep experience in the Indigenous energy space, will be held on November 5–6, 2025 at the Grey Eagle Event Centre, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino on Tsuut’ina Nation.

“We’re at a pivotal moment – where reconciliation, economic security and energy development are converging with urgency and purpose. This isn’t just a moment of opportunity; it’s a turning point for Indigenous economic sovereignty and national prosperity. As Chair of spark, I’m honoured to help bring together Indigenous leaders, industry partners and changemakers. This summit is about real conversations that lead to real action. Let’s build the future – together.” – J.P. Gladu, Founder, Mokwateh & Chair, spark

The format, inspired by the success of Forward Summit, includes keynote talks, interactive panel discussions, roundtables, and commercial exhibitions, with meaningful networking at its core.

“Hosting spark on Tsuut’ina traditional territory underscores Forward Summit’s mission to Indigenous economic prosperity, turning conversations into contracts and to advance responsible growth through true partnership and inclusion,” said Rod Miller, President & COO of Connect Partnership Group.

spark is more than a summit. It’s the beginning of a national movement to center Indigenous rights, relationships, and reconciliation within Canada’s energy future. We are Powering Tomorrow. Together.
