Switchblade Flying Car Lifts Off

London, 22 November 2023, (Oilandgaspress) – First flight of the Samson Sky Switchblade, the world’s most sought after flying car. First flight was achieved under cloudy skies in Moses Lake, Washington at the Grant Country International Airport. After a smooth takeoff, test pilot Robert Moehle flew her up to 500 ft., cruising over the massive airport and rolling countryside for just short of 6 minutes, before coming in for a nice landing. The Switchblade performed great! This 2-minute video really captures the beauty of our historic flight and the Samson Team’s excitement.

It needs an airport runway to take off and a private pilot’s license to fly. It uses unleaded gasoline rather than leaded airplane fuel and needs three minutes to switch into flying mode. The Switchblade is a three-wheel, street legal vehicle that you drive from your garage to a nearby local airport. Once there, the wings swing out and the tail extends in under 3 minutes. You then fly your registered aircraft directly to your destination – at up to 200 mph and 13,000 feet.

The Switchblade comes in two kit types, a $170k model that permits a pilot to operate in clear weather conditions, and a $330k version to fly under different weather conditions, including flying into clouds and with zero visibility. The Limited Edition vehicle (LE Switchblade, from $770,000) can be Individually crafted for each client.

All models are shipped in a kit format, owners are required to build 51% of the vehicle. This process is simplified using Samson’s trained staff to educate, guide, and speed the build progress immensely. .
