The new Solar-powered Electric Bush motorbike

CAKE, the Swedish maker of premium lightweight, electric motorbikes, participated in the Outdoor Retailer show in Denver, CO, introducing the world premiere of the Ösa AP to strengthen its range of electric Bush Bikes within its globally acclaimed anti-poaching initiative. The Ösa AP joins existing models, including the Kalk AP, now available as a single buy machine.

“Clean, durable, flexible, and built to offer fast and convenient transportation off-road as well as in cities, the new Ösa AP clearly demonstrates our mission to inspire and contribute to accelerating the journey towards a zero emission society, combining excitement and responsibility,” says Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of Cake. “Supporting multiple challenges in transportation, our electric motorcycles have proven to be a winner in areas with sensitive environments and uncertain supply of traditional fuel.”

The Anti-Poaching initiative
In close collaboration with the Southern African Wildlife College, Cake’s engineers developed the Electric Bush Bike. The result was a silent, purpose-built electric off-road motorcycle that allows rangers to approach poachers without being detected, and paves the way for more efficient anti-poaching patrols in the region. Traditional combustion engine motorcycles require costly, inconvenient and unsustainable deliveries of fuel to support the ranger teams as they work deep in the African bush. Those deliveries, by diesel trucks and even helicopters, further drive up the cost of anti-poaching patrols and cause even more pollution in those sensitive areas. With Cake’s electric bikes for anti-poaching, rangers are equipped with mobile power stations and solar panels to charge the bikes with renewable power from the sun, allowing them to operate off the power grid and independent of traditional power sources.

The Electric Bush Bike series

Kalk AP – the outback patroller: The Kalk AP was the first bike in the anti-poaching lineup. Engineered using only premium components, this lightweight and durable off-road machine was designed to be the fastest most efficient tool for remote work missions in challenging environments. Until now, the Kalk AP has only been available to buy in a special charity bundle, where the buyer gets one bike and another bike is sent to Africa to strengthen the anti-poaching initiative.

Ösa AP – the off-grid transporter: The Ösa, Cake’s powerful workbench and tow truck on two wheels that’s built to haul heavy and bulky loads, is now available in an AP version and is the latest addition to Cake’s Anti-Poaching series. Thanks to its agility, huge towing performance, cargo possibilities, and long product life, the Ösa AP is optimized to increase efficiency, lower running cost, and bring all equipment needed.
