Time Technology and Safran in partnership to equip the E20 eVTOL aircraft

Shanghai Time Technology Co., Ltd. and Safran Electric & Power, a global leader in aircraft electrical systems, announced a partnership agreement to equip the E20 eVTOL aircraft with Safran’s ENGINeUS™ smart motors.

The E20 aircraft developed by Time Technology is a five-seat manned eVTOL aircraft with a distributed six-rotor layout (four of which can be tilted), high gull wings and a typical tail design. It has a design range of 200 km and a cruising speed of 260 km/h. Safran Electric & Power will provide the six motors required for the E20 aircraft. The E20 aircraft is scheduled to complete the airworthiness certification at the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2025.

The ENGINeUS™ product line includes a range of motors with power outputs ranging from a few watts to 500 kilowatts. The ENGINeUS™ 100 powering the E20 delivers over 100 kW of output at takeoff and includes a fully integrated motor controller. Thermal management is achieved by an optimized air cooling system. The forensics project for the motor will take place in mid-2023.
