TotalEnergies SE and TotalEnergies Electricité et Gaz France Accept Court Judgement
London, October 24, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) –– TotalEnergies SE acknowledges the decision of the Paris Judicial Court, which rejected most of the claims made against it, in particular those concerning the Company’s corporate communications, and requested the removal of three paragraphs relating to the carbon neutrality ambition from the customer website of its French subsidiary. Contrary to what some media outlets are claiming, the requests concerning the communications campaign linked to its name change in 2021, as well as those concerning its corporate communications on the role of natural gas and biofuels in the energy transition, were all dismissed. No “advertising” by TotalEnergies subsidiaries in France was condemned by the court.
In light of this judgment, which in fact criticizes the three paragraphs in question for not having specified the scenario on which TotalEnergies’ multi-energy (oil, gas, electricity) transition strategy is based , the companies TotalEnergies SE and TotalEnergies Electricité et Gaz France have decided not to appeal. The three paragraphs in question will be replaced by a factual description of what TotalEnergies has achieved to date in the implementation of its multi-energy strategy, in order to dispel any doubt among its customers.
