HOUSTON & CALGARY, Alberta–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ESGValidere, a measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) SaaS company, welcomes Karen Marsh as Senior Advisor, Carbon Strategies. A former senior environmental engineer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Marsh joins Validere’s Market Fundamentals Team – a renowned group of experts from across academia, industry, and technology who help clients develop strategies and optimize measurement programs to meet operational and environmental goals.

Marsh brings 15+ years of experience in developing regulations to reduce methane emissions, various leak detection and repair (LDAR) regulations, air permitting, and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting. Prior to joining Validere, Marsh served as a lead regulation developer within the Sector Policies and Programs Division of the EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, as well as the technical lead on the development and implementation of LDAR regulations and Clean Air Act regulations for the oil and gas sector. She has authored key regulations such as New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for the oil and gas industry.

“We are proud to have such an experienced emissions and regulatory expert join the Validere team,” says Nouman Ahmad, Validere Co-Founder and CEO. “As a key developer of regulations for the EPA, her background and expertise will strengthen how we help clients prepare for today’s evolving regulatory environment.”

A licensed Professional Engineer with a focus in climate change, Marsh has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a M.Sc. in Water and Waste Engineering from Loughborough University. In addition to her work with the EPA, Marsh was an environmental consultant with ERM for five years, where she focused on oil and gas GHG reporting, LDAR compliance, and wastewater permitting.

“Throughout my career, I’ve worked to identify how to best tackle some of the biggest challenges to improving air quality and reducing emissions from various industries,” says Marsh. “Just as the regulatory landscape continues to change, so do the technologies and best practices available for tackling complex issues such as climate change.
