Versalis publishes its first Sustainability Report
Versalis, Eni’s chemical company, has published its first Sustainability Report, in which it details its goals and energy transition activities as it targets carbon neutrality by 2050.
The company intends to play a key role in the transition, developing a sustainable growth model with clear strategic guidelines consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. This includes: specialisation of the portfolio towards high-performance and higher value-added products; development of chemistry from renewables with new processes; products and circular economy initiatives from chemical and mechanical recycling; gradual reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; increasing energy efficiency and investing in low-carbon technologies and optimisation of internal processes to improve resilience.
Versalis CEO Adriano Alfani said: “For a chemical company, pursuing the transition involves implementing a transformation process underpinned by strategic projects that support a zero-emission economy and nurture the growth and prosperity of the regions in which it operates”.
Versalis Chairman Marco Petracchini said: “The Report testifies to our ongoing commitment to sustainability, while respecting the people and the communities where we operate. We are living through an unprecedented period in history, but the challenges we face have not slowed down our progress to continue innovating and transforming into a fully differentiated and sustainable company that generates value for all stakeholders”.
